You’re not expected to run as fast as a 20-year-old, or walk as much, or see as clearly. It’s only natural because as you grow older you experience a decline in various areas of your day-today-life, including memory. So if you find yourself getting forgetful a little more often these days, there’s no need to be alarmed. It’s all a normal part of ageing.
Exercise your mind
Mental exercise is highly recommended because it makes your brain work better. And how does one exercise the mind? The simplest way is by playing games that involve thinking, planning and strategizing like chess, Sudoku and even word games like crosswords and puzzles that appear in the newspaper every day.
You could also try shopping for groceries without referring to the list in your pocket. After you’re done shopping, but before you pay, bring out the list and see how many items you remembered and how many you didn’t. You’re sure to get better with each try.
